I would like yo put a ls6 intake on my 1999 ls1. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to make this conversion. Can I use my injectors, rails and throttle body,Also herd I will need plugs, pipes, maps and a tune. I would just like to do it right the first time without any issues. Or maybe if someone knows a site with procedures and parts I need. Thanks

Reason: left out info
Plugs and pipe is all you need..........easy swap...................You wont notice much but down the road will will need this intake if you plan on doing any other mods...........clean everything up while its all apart
Lots of people shave the small ribs off the bottom of the intake and just put it on. I bought a used one already shaved and it works with no other modifications. This works fine for me and I haven't read of a single person having an issue after this was done to an LS6 intake.
If you are going to use 2 of the front coolant pipes then at least bring a hose from the back around to the front and tee it into the line rather than just plugging it with a bolt.

I did the shaved bottom method on mine too. Works as good as it gets and is cheaper. There are no other parts needed if you do it that way, just a gasket kit.
I would also recommend a oil catch can at this time. Once you have it all apart, you will clean out a whole lot of old oil and gunk that's full of grit from over the years. Once you have the intake runners cleaned out and the new intake on (which should be very clean when going on), the intake tract will stay clean from then on without the pcv oil going into the intake anymore.
I am always surprised by the amount of oil the can collects. I am very glad I did it when I did so that that the new set up stays clean and at its peak.

I recently installed a catch can on my 99 LS1 with an LS6 intake. I am surprised at the amount of oil that I am catching so I'm sure the intake is gunked up. How can I clean it up without removing it? Seafoam?
Thanks for input.....

Did you put it on, or was it on when you got it? If you did it, you know how easy it is to take on and off. I would just pull it off and thoroughly clean it, the throttle, and the intake runners. All these parts use seals, not gaskets, so if its an LS6 on a 99, I take it the seals are new and reusable. If not a kit is 20 bucks at Autozone. There is plenty of step by steps on the procedure.

The ls6 intake was on the car when I bought it. It's a DD that I use every day so I really don't have time to take it off to clean it.
I don't want to hijack this thread but i also am doing the swap. Thanx to the op for starting this thread and all contributors. My question is that i've heard a lot of bad stories about the oil pressure sensors going bad in c5's and the pita it is to change. So, does it make good sense to do a sensor relocate while the intake is off? If so, where can i get a kit. Again, thanx to the op.

You can easily pull the intake off in 5 minutes or less once you've done it once. Don't fix it, if it aint broke.
Nobody answered the OP's question about if a tune is needed afterwards. I've been tempted as well to do the swap. But from what I've read, it doesn't make any difference below 5K rpm. And I'm not clear if a tune will be required afterwards. Read this article on intakes. I have never reved my 97' above 5K and can't imagine doing so. Going above 4K scares me. It does not sound good for the motor!
So if that's the case that the LS1 and LS6 are the same below 5K, why do the swap???
