Don't the rules say 400 pixels?
We're getting a bit more generous. ;)

I spent a bunch of time testing out various scenarios yesterday with my screen set to 800x600. While 500 is pushing it in some cases I think it's alright. We'll go with that.

It has to be damn close.

500 sig + 125 ad on the right + 5 margins (x2) = 635

of course, my personal opinion is that anybody who can afford a Vette should also be able to afford a 21" monitor and high speed internet
Ha! Money isn't really the issue for me...it's availability. I still can't get DSL in my area, and the satellite dish-based solutions are just stupid-expensive. :cry

Corollary #1 to my rule: if you own a C5, then not only can you afford a 21" monitor and high speed internet, but you can also afford to run a T1 into your house (if dsl/cablemodem or satellite is not an option). ;)

I know you're trying to be funny, but that's really pompus.

Don't forget the forums are read by a lot of people who aren't registered, and now telling what sort of setup they have. Those people (and there are a lot of them as Troy can attest to) can't even turn of sigs without registering.

Not to mention, Troy's message talks about signature *width* because of screen sizes, the bandwidth issues aren't as big of a deal. Even those of us with 21" monitors don't necessarily want to run our web browsers at full or half resolution.

Your sig shouldn't be a web page, ya know.

You know what, people that always post their sig more than once in a thread is what gets me. We saw it the first time.
I like looking at the sigs which is why I leave them off, but I don't want to see the same one over and over again in the same thread.

Besides this is coming down from #1, so I would comply if you want to stick around.

That's why Troy gave us the free home pages to avoid the huge sigs. He has been very generous in not enforcing that.

chadwick, mr mojo - thanks for the comments. i apologize for the "dry humor" that obviously wasn't funny to you. both of you made good points, and have inspired me to do a better job with my own sig.

have a great weekend.

cheers!
