So, after reading on this forum a while I decided to tackle a HUD install in my 2000 vette. After removing the dash and mounting my new switch on the left to control the HUD, I went to connect the wires from the cluster to the new control switch. Unfortunately, there are only 7 wires instead of 11. The cluster does have a slot for the projector to plug into, but appears to have the wrong wiring harness.
1. If I buy the 11 pin harness, will it connect to the back of my cluster once I remove it and solve my problems?
2. Does anyone have an 11 pin harness available or know where to get one?
Any help would be much appreciated, I am eager to put my vette back together.

When you look at that harness coming out the left side of your cluster, you'll see it has an 11 pin connector but only 6 or 7 wires in it. The wires are NOT a straight through arrangement. You can't just use a ribbon cable. (Thanks for nothing GM).
There are really good photos of those harnesses here on the forums. From there you can get the pinouts for making one. I think the guys who used to make them no longer do. They're not all that much fun to do, and for the little bit of money most folks will pay for one, they're probably not worth the time to do. They have to be hand made, and they just take time. Then too, the parts are not free either.
Do a search for HUD Harness and you'll see some pics that'll help you out. The 11 pin side of yours is usable. It needs wires added and the other end replaced.
There is a listing on eBay for a switch and harness cheap, the reason it's cheap is the switch is missing a button on it, but together they are cheaper than the harness will cost.
If I can find it I'll post a link.

Right on, I'm fixing to do the same install, so I have been eye balling parts, I have all of mine now, let me know how it turns out and if it was worth the trouble k.
I'll let you know, so far it has taken about 1.5 hours to remove the dash with the help of a friend, and about another 10 minutes to drill the holes required to mount the projector. I took the dash to an audio install shop to let them cut it, hopefully it will not be more than an hour of labor ($50). I'll keep you posted.
Thanks Peter after you get her back together and all give me an update, I'm just coming back off vacation and to be honest don't know when I'm going to find the time to break mine down and do the install, I also have a shift light I'm putting in and it's Hot as Hell here in Texas I might just wait another months or 2 till it cools off a tad
Unless you tell me it's just too good to wait.
I hope you enjoy it.
