New member, just purchased a new 2002 C5 and excited about the new ride. We had a 98 SS Camaro, many mods and raced road courses, autoX etc. Much fun with the car, but always wanted the Corvette. Our new Vette is Pewter in color with black interior. I will most likely mod the exhaust and air box first. Any suggestions? Thanks for the help
Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new 'Vette.
I think you're gonna be real happy with it as is since you're used to running an F-body around corners. A C5 works so much better for that purpose.
A cold air intake and exhaust is a great place to start. You'll want to look into tires and brakes. These are the real limiting factors for road racing. The stock rotors are easily warped. Some real fluid and some Speedbleeders are a good idea as well. You can lower the car 1/2 in. without any parts if so desired, just by tightening the leaf spring to A-arm bolts all the way. The stock shifter is easily shortened by cutting if you find it's too tall. I sure did.
Oh -- I see that I'm going to have some fun at this site. Get the check book out. Well it has been a while since doing mods to the SS, so I guess I'm starting over and what fun it will be. Thank you all for your information. Once the C5 is broken in I'm going to do a test day at Thunderhill Raceway located north of Sacramento. I hope to have the exhaust and air box installed. Can't wait. :D
