Getting ready to install a Line-Lok unit and was wondering where you MN6 guys placed your release button? Have seen them on the shifter handle which seems like the most obvious place, but was wondering if there were other places I should consider?? Pics sure would be helpful. Appreciate the help and thanks.
Joe
Roger, didn't purchase it as yet, but there are a number of local suppliers in the metro NJ area from which to choose. From what I understand the cost is somewhere in the $125.-150. range and installation runs about the same.

Just unscrew the shifter **** and slide it over the shifter shaft. Its the best place. If you have gears in the car, do your burnout in 2nd gear to get the wheel speed up!

that is how I have mine setup. I went with the Hurst and bought it from Summit.
I had the Hurst unit on a mustang, wasn't too bad to install and I used the switch mounted first on the shirter shaft *then* I bought a shifter ball that had the button built in right on top! That was a great option for mounting. And, no I never hit the button by accident.
How's the install on a C5? Really tough to do the plumbing? Lemme know please!
Re: Positioning the Line-Lok Button?? (dads01dream)
Mike, will e-mail you when the install is done. Will share the do's/don'ts and whatever. Will be calling Summit first thing Monday in the AM and check out the three types/options. Thanks to you all for your responses.
Joe
Thanks! I'd love to know what's involved. By the way, did you make it to the last challenge?? Your times were pretty impressive before the gears and intake, curious to know how you made out?? I was planning on attending but had some "family" obligations that kept me away.
Oh, before I forget to ask... What do you think of the 3.73's? Did you install a new T/C as well? Who did the install & tuning? I'm looking at doing a S/C later this summer and would REALLY like to do the gears too! Though I wonder if they would be too steep with the ATI?
That looks like the right hand side on the driver’s side just under the ignition keys. Right?
Just to make sure that I understand the way a line-lock works: You hit the breaks, then you hold the button of the line lock pressed while you release the breaks. The rear breaks release but the front stay engaged as long as you have the line lock button pressed. Is this right?

Yup
Cool
So, the perfect place to put the line lock switch will be at the top of the “fake” foot pedal. Like the low/high beam switch on some old cars. Use your right foot to step on the breaks, use your left foot to engage the line lock, move your right foot to the gas pedal to do you burn out or launch the car!

That is correct, I have other pictures you can look at, but remember this is best for the A4. If you have the M6, the best thing would be to mount the switch on the gear shift!

Nice pictures! I have and A4 also. As I posted above, I’m thinking of putting the line lock switch at the top of the “fake” foot pedal. Like the low/high beam switch on some old cars. It will have to wait thought until I get new rims and tires; I’m still using the stock tires. No use of burnouts with the run-flats.
Re: Positioning the Line-Lok Button?? (dads01dream)
Mike, no coudn't make it as I had to work. Have to make the money to pay for these mods. Love the 3.73's...just make the car more driveable. The bottom three gears are awesome. Will be making the next Challenge as I am anxious to see how we do with the gears, tires(DR's), headers(FLP's) and Z06 intake. Plan on installing the Line-Lok next Saturday and will follow-up with how it went. Did but it from Summit...$107. Hurst Roll Control and $29.95 for the installation kit.
Beat deal! I was looking forward to hearing some numbers from you. Oh well, work/family... it always seems to be something keeping us away from our hobbies. :cry
I hope to go to the next challenge, let me know if you're going. Would love the chance to meet with you and check out all those mods of yours.
