I would say that cleaning or replacing would depend on the condition of the pins. Light rust or crud, scotchbrite. Medium rust, some 180 grit wet or dry paper, lubed with WD-40. Any sort of heavy corrosion, new pins.

Permatex makes a good synthetic caliper pin grease. It's available at most auto parts stores.

Just make sure that the pin grease boots are in good condition use peratex claiper grease. They clean up good with brake parts cleaner. make sure that you suck all the OLD brake fluid out of the master cyl and then when your done with all the brakes.. Bleed the entire syetem and get some fresh fliuid in the system NOTE!! DO NOT LET THE MASTER CYL RUN DRY when your bleeding!!!!!!!

Thanks again for all the info and advice Bill and to everyone else too. Think I am ready to attempt the inspection and then do the rebuild now.
