C-5 Tech, I have a 2000 C5 and I am experiencing the erratic fule gage problem as discribed in TSB # 010604022. The vehicle was serviced for this problem. According to the invoice the sensor (FP-number 88899034, Sens Kit 3.107 SP) and strainer assembly (FP-12459862, STNR Kit 3.110 SP) were replaced per the bulletin. I think this is the right side tank. When I picked the vehicle up there was virtually no gas in it and I was advised to go straight to the nearest gas stations, which I did and put 16.8 gallons in. To me this ment that the newly installed parts had not been tested. However, to make a long story short the gage still does not work. The gage went to 3/4th full, not full, then once it got to a half a tank it went to empty and stayed there. My question is what should the dealer test and or look for this time. When I went back the next day to advise them that the gage still did not work the service representitive said he did not know what to do at this point. They don't service many C5's at this dealership (maybe 3-4) and I would like to point them in the right direction without being confrontational. Your advise would be appreciated. Thanks, Blumojo
Re: Paging C-5 Tech - Erratic Fuel gage problem (blumojo)
I wonder if thye perhaps forgot to clear the computer?
I had my gauge go from half tank to empty once. It happened at a good time as I was about to see my mechanic. The mechanic cleared the code (or reset something - whatever it is they do) and said if it ever happened again he would replace the parts listed in the bulletin. The guage has worked perfectly since then.

The sensor kit and the strainer are located in the left tank. They also should have replace the complete sender in the right tank as stated in the TSB. :yesnod:
