Location of filter and any tips for changing would be appreciated.

I did a google search for "C5 fuel filter location", and came up with numerous hits....including the one below:

I just changed mine this morning and I have to admit, it was the easiest fuel filter change I ever did. I was expecting alot of fuel to spill out and all I got was a trickle. The quick disconnects made the process even easier. Make sure you have a 3/8 quick disconnect tool for the metal disconnect. The plastic ones are disconnected by pressing the tabs.

One of my tabs had disintegrated so much that the fuel gushed out and ran on the left muffler. Replaced both plastic tabs that came with the new filter. Mine was 10 years old when it failed,

My tabs were in excellent shape. They were flexible with no brittleness at all so I reused them. The funny thing is that the GM service manual does not mention anything about changing them.

Thanks, I guess no need to disconnect battery or remove fuel cap to relieve pressure.

Battery disconnect not necessary and removing the fuel cap does nothing. There's a check valve in the line.

You want to relieve fuel pressure up front at the schrader valve on the fuel rail first. I just wrap a rag around it and depress it with a small screwdriver.

The battery disconnect is only a precaution against someone starting the car while your under there. Or, if you need to use some sort of electrical power tool which is not recommended anyway when working on the fuel system.
