Default Just passing on some info.

I've seen that our vettes with a bad oil sending unit usually alert us of our inoperative sending unit by pegging the oil pressure gauge . Well , mine took a crap yesturday when driving about 20 miles away from home. I noticed the service engine soon message and "low oil pressure" . I freaked out stopped then kept driving in a section of the highway that I didn't really want to be stranded in . Took a risk by continuing to drive it and of coarse if it had been truly a low oil pressure condition I would have done harm to the engine. At that point I continued to drive home and just changed out the sensor the following morning . The point I am trying to make is that the guage doesn't have to show a pegged psi needle only , it can also be a zero oil pressure indication for it to be the oil sending unit.

Thank you for the tip. I had always heard it would peg the needle upon failure.
