I have been hearing a squealing noise mid to rear of engine. I was told it might be the intake gasket leaking. I removed the intake and the gaskets look good but there was a little vaccum hose off at the rear of the intake.Could this have been the problem? Also, when checking for Vac leak I removed the oil filler cap while the engine was running and it killed the engine. It was sucking so much Vac the engine would not run.

"but there was a little vaccum hose off at the rear of the intake."
How do the AC vents inside the car work? If they don't move from floor to panel to defrost, that vaccum line is your problem. From the back of the manifold there should be a small 1/8" hard plastic tube that runs into a loom and down inside the passenger fender behind the wheel.
As far as your squeeling noise goes you can temporarly just cap it off to see if that fixes it...

yep...just cap off the port on the rear of the intake with a 1/8" vacuum cap and see if the noise goes away. (you won't be to see the port back there, just have to feel for it with your hand)
As a matter of fact, the vents inside the car don't work right either. I thought the accuraters were just out of time and weren't opening the vent doors properly. Thanks so much for that bit of info.

That little vac. line on the back of the intake MUST be connected in order for your HVAC system to operate. That system is all vacuum operated. Some guys add an 6" extension in that line to make it easier to reinstall the intake. Works for me!
