Means the seal lips are either: a) damaged, b) have debris on them, or c) the axle might have a nick/flaw where the seal lips ride.
I just learned tonight that the reman axles where it slips over the output shaft is sometimes machined too far and it doesn't seal properly. I ordered up a OEM axle today, I'll report back if that fixed it.

First I've heard of that. Do you still have the old one? If so put a caliper on it and see.
Be sure there are no burrs or grit on the shaft. Wipe it down really well. You want it clean clean clean. Then put a thin coat of oil on it, and slide it straight in. It's pretty easy to screw up those seals if you're not careful.
I'm looking at this forum because my '01 has developed a leak seemingly around the axle housing where the axle enters the diff. I'll check it out this weekend.

There's lots of good info in this thread on where to start. Post up what you discover.
I had the driver side seal and O-ring replaced on my 2000, seemed to be OK for a while, Took some spirited runs and the leak reappeared. Lived with it for a year or so when I read about the Diff vent sticking. Removed the spring and upper housing from the vent and clamped a rubber hose to the vent. It has been several months and some hot spirited runs and no leak. Do a search for the write up, this has worked for a lot of forum members. If the differential does not vent it builds up pressure and can leak from the seals. Good luck!!
do you have some pictures
