I just learned tonight that the reman axles where it slips over the output shaft is sometimes machined too far and it doesn't seal properly. I ordered up a OEM axle today, I'll report back if that fixed it.

First I've heard of that. Do you still have the old one? If so put a caliper on it and see.

Be sure there are no burrs or grit on the shaft. Wipe it down really well. You want it clean clean clean. Then put a thin coat of oil on it, and slide it straight in. It's pretty easy to screw up those seals if you're not careful.

I'm looking at this forum because my '01 has developed a leak seemingly around the axle housing where the axle enters the diff. I'll check it out this weekend.

well that all depends, the axle seal calls for 2.5 hours to replace, so what the dealer charges will determin that let say they charge $120

LABOR=$300.00
SEAL = $26.75
FLUID= $70.16

TOTAL=$396.91

It has been several months and some hot spirited runs and no leak. Do a search for the write up, this has worked for a lot of forum members. If the differential does not vent it builds up pressure and can leak from the seals. Good luck!!
do you have some pictures
