I've owned my C5 for almost 10 years. It's been mostly garage kept and has less than 40k miles. In the past year I have numerous component failures...Windshield wipers, horn, climate control actuators, drivers side door lock and most recently the grommet on the top end of the shift cable. There's a good thread on replacing the bushing on the cable with a part from Autozone but the little plastic pos breaks if you are not careful. I got a good deal on a new cable on ebay from a chevy dealer in West palm Fla. 63dollars shipping included. I read a thread here about replacing this cable without dropping the exhaust system and removing the tunnel cover. Has anybody else had success doing the repair this way? Any pointers would be appreciated
I would like to say I don't visit this forum very often, but there is a wealth of informatiom here and whenever I need help you guys
are there.....Thanks

What's the url for your thread on replacing the cable? I sawa thread somewhere mentioning that someone has metal replacement ends for the cable. Do you know anything about that?

wasn't the tranny end, so I need to remove the shifter and cable. How do I remove the shifter, or do I need to do that to remove and replace the cable?
