Need help with the IAT sensor (pulling timing mod)
I'm trying to retard a few degrees of timing by putting in a 1K ohm resistor, with a switch between the IAT plugs wires. When I turn on the switch, the temp went up to 122 (from 90). I will need to switch to a lower resistance resistor to raise the temp up to about 150 degree when I turn it on (for spraying).
The problem I have now is when I turn off the switch (or even remove resistor completely), instead of dropping back to normal temp (90), it drop down to -38 degree.   Have any of you ran into this problem before? I guess I may have shorted the IAT sensor while putting the resistor. :( :( :( Do you know where I can order one? Or how much does it cost?
i know the sensor relocation kit for 2000 and older C5's come with a new sensor and is only $20. If it is permenantly reading -38F, you may have shorted it somehow.
According to the guys over at LS1Tech, you also get the -38 reading if cable is not plug in. So this confirms that my IAT sensor is gone. I just spoke with the dealer's part dept. The new IAT sensor is $18, so I'm going to pick one up at lunch today. :D
