I noticed the light on and shinning through the top of my glove box while driving last night. Opening and closing it a few times and making sure nothing was jammed anywhere or impeding closing did not turn it off. After getting home I found that the box lid is not closing enough to press the button to turn the light off.
So somehow the lid is latching closed but leaving a large space at the top that is wide enough to leave the light on. I had to wedge a folded up paper towel where it pushes the switch to turn the light off for the night.
Is there a rebuild kit for the box? I have no idea where to start. Interior is not my thing. This is out of nowhere too. I can see where there are some broken looking leftover pieces of plastic on the sides of the latch. But they were always like that since I bought it...
I think you just answered your own question when you say there are some broken pieces. Check what sections are broken and see if anyone has the parts in the Parts for Sale section.
while you have your glove box open u will find two rubber caps which are some what easy to over look
You can take a screw driver and from the under side of the glove box pop the tabs out which will give you access to two bolts where the glove box mounts.
The only other place i would suggest is the 4 small screws u can see at the top of the box.

I've noticed my glove box light on through the narrow crack at the top. It looks as though the door has warped slightly over time and/or the latch has worn enough so that the part that contacts the switch pin doesn't push it in quite far enough to interrupt the circuit.
I tightened up all the fasteners but it made no difference. So, the pin needs to be pushed in a bit further. A small plastic plate applied to the back of the door where it makes contact might work. However, some sort of a tip placed on the end of the pin would also do the trick.
I found an old plastic cap (from what I have no idea) that was about the right size. I drilled it out so it would just fit over the pin and problem solved. Black would be less noticeable, but white was what I had (and it does show up better in the photos).
Well as soon as I messed with it, the whole latch snapped off. So now my box is hanging open till I get it fixed. It was close to breaking anyway, but this is very annoying. I removed the light for now till I get to fixing it.
