Charge System Fault...
My son just purchased his first vette about 2 weeks ago. He called me last week and stated he gets a charge system fault showing. I advised him to have the battery and alternator checked first. I emailed him to check some the red wires going to the alternator and batter to see if they are loose or corroded...also the same with the ground wire. He sent this back to me. He lives in Chandler, AZ., so I can't help him out with me living in Ohio. Here is what he emailed back to me. Oh forgot it's a 2001.
It only shows when starting when it hasnt been drove for 8 hours or more. Never comes on while driving. Battery/alternater voltage is in good range. He checked it twice. Ive read it good be something with the ground wires? Any thoughts?
Any other advice I can give him on this. I did forget to have him check for codes.

The ground for the alternator is the alternator case attached to the alternator bracket and that bracket attached to the engine.
The return path to the battery is the main battery ground wire attached to the passengers side of the engine block above the starter.
I agree,, Have him join the forum. Its easier to get direct access to DTC info if needed to help further.
