Would it worth putting a tune on my 02 coupe with just a catback and a cai system on it. When I bought the car it had a tune on it and then the column lock accured and the dealer had to reflash the ecm so I lost it. Just wanted to know what you guys think about it. Thanks for any input and advice .

If you're done modding go for it. If not, wait until you have more mods to get the most out of it...

Auto - Yes, it can be worthwhile mostly for the re-mapping of the trans.
Manual - No, don't bother until you mod it more.

I would say its worth it. At least where I go each subsequent tune is only 100 bucks. So when doing future mods it isn't a hard hit. And there are whats known as factory slugs that put out 280-290whp, and some that put out up to 310-315! A4 cars also benefit from shift point tuning at the same time. An auto is definitely worth tuning IMO. If you only pick up 6whp like me, dont be discouraged, It just means your factory tune was already close to as good as it gets. Whether you pick up 5whp or 20whp, the end result would be the same.

(I baselined 319 in my 99 A4, and picked up 6whp for a total of 325whp/325tq with a cia, axleback, and LS6 intake.) May give you an idea.

What CAI system do you have? More than gain you pure horsepower, a tuner can re-calibrate the MAF. Changing the intake tract skews the already imperfect factory calibration on the MAF. A tune will get you better throttle response and better drivability.

That being said, I would not pay for a tune with your mods. The gains will be small, and unless you are done modding forever, you will need to be retuned with every part you add.
