Default Do the DIC buttons go bad?

On my vette the DiC seems to work fine, at start up it says "Corvette by Chevrolet" and displays any information such as door or hatch open. The DiC buttons all light up however they are not functioning. I took the gauges out to install trim bezels and made sure everything was plugged in all the way, but it still doesn't work. Grounds seem ok. I would hate to spend money and change the switch if it might be something else.

Any thoughts?

Have you checked fuses? Sounds like you did something and not a switch that went south. It could have but not likely. Not sure how it is powered but can help research. I have the factory manuals for 2001, but assume the design is the same for all years.

The problem existed before I bought the car, I am the second owner. I checked all the fuses, couldn't find a blown one, but I'm also not sure which fuse would control the switch. Thanks for responding.

Buttons did NOT work prior to removing the gauges.

Since it's not a fuse, my money would be with the connector.

IP= Instrument Panel

There is a main connector that plugs into the Guage cluster that powers and connects the Guage cluster to the rest of the car.

There is also a connector with a real short harness on the back of the DiC switch/buttons that connect it to the IPC display which is the the 20-character screen located in the cluster that says "Corvette by Chevrolet", "Hatch Open", etc..

The connectors look fine so I decided to buy a used but functioning DiC Switch and see if that fixes the issue. I'll let you know the outcome.

Very interested in this thread but don't see conclusions. I have a 1998 and all 6 DIC buttons are not functioning. What happened when you replaced it?
