Default 2001 Keyfob not working with 98

Tried programming it using the DIC and it won't work. Did a search on here and everything I read pointed towards the 98-04 all working with each other except the Passive function. Any other ways to program the remotes? Thanks in advance for any answers.

You cannot interchange between these two groups.

Do you remember where you found the thread that said they were all interchangeable irrespective of year? It'd be good to post in there with the correction as that is absolutely wrong.

All of the threads on this subject I've found on here reflect what 8vette7 said above...

I am ordering new 1999 Fobs from a vendor here on the forums. What is the "Passive mode" function? I just bought my 99'. Also one of the Fobs ihas never been used, I replaced the battery and it still didn't work, sound normal?

I'll look back and check through my I Pad's history. If I find them, I'll link the posts to this one for correction's purpose. Anyone know where I can get a fob without the passive function for a good price then?

edit: nevermind you have a 98 it's going to cost more. I got mine on ebay for 25 shipped. Last I checked the 97-99 where 98 bucks on ebay

Default 99 remote

Check Corvette Recyclers (Google). Much more reasonable. I got a 99 for about $60 including shipping, and they are great to deal with; aim to please. You can probably sell your '01 on here and recoup most of the cost as well.

Make a post in the for sale forum that you're looking for Key Fobs. I was able to snag one that way when mine took a dump.
