I have been getting a clunk noise after a cold start up and in drive. This has been for a few weeks. Not when I put it in drive, but within a few seconds after moving. Its a sound that seems to match the movement of the vehicle. As I drive forward and the weight shifts back, I hear the clunk. It is not a vibration or a violent event that you can feel at all. Just more like a sound of weight transfer. It sounds and happens in a way that seems like its in the drive train. It may happen one or two times at the fist couple stop signs, then it seems to go away.
I am glad to know that my entire rear end, tranny, and torque tube are coming out within a month for a tt rebuild, hardened shafts installed in the diff, and a high stall converter in the tranny.
I am hoping that anything this may be will be fixed with all the parts coming out and going back in. But I need a clue as to what this might be so that I can be sure to point it out as a concern.
Its not all the time and its only a clunk that seems to have to do with something like the drive shaft, or maybe the converter or some part that is rocking forward and back with stop and go, and only when its cold. Any ideas?
