Launch techniques for ET Streets
What type of burnout and launch yields the best results without snapping an output shaft?
I was planning on spinning them in the water for a couple of seconds, then doing a 5 second burnout, then spinning them to the line.
Is a 3500 rpm drop to excessive?
Thanks
Assuming you have a very good aftermarket clutch and a beefed up rear end (hardened half shaft/cryo treated gears);
Set the pressure to about 15psi, do a real smokey burnout and laund the car hard at about 4500RPM with no slip.
If nothing breaks :) you will launch like a bat out of hell and get a 1.6x 60 foot!
I did 4 of these two wknds ago and had 4 1.6x 60 foots with worn ET streets.
I have an aftermarket clutch but no hardened output shafts... Yet.
You think I can squeeze out a few runs before snapping the output shaft?
We will have to go bust all over RCR next week when my CCW's get here! I can't wait, but I probably can't make it tomorrow.
I would be careful. The input shaft is the week link. I have seen many snap clean on lesser launches then 4500. The way I approached it before I had mine was I figured if it snapped I would just replace it. But I had a trailer with a winch :).
If it was me I would go for it, but thats me Mr Vegas :)!
P.S. Caution this is an addictive activity! Once you do it you will be addictied to the sensation :D!
Good Luck Scott.

Way different than launching/burning out on DR's.
I ran John's car once at the track and lets just say it was pretty comical. :yesnod:
The tall shifter, stock rev limiter and pathetic first time launch on ET Streets
was priceless.

Stripes is one of my favorite movies.
Well Bill, as any of my friends will tell you, I'll be dropping the clutch around 4500 regardless. :reddevil
And without a trailor I might add.

I'll try to launch easy the first couple times, but after that I'll have to try at least one or 2 higher launches.
I'm definately going to put a hardened output shaft in within the next couple of weeks.:yesnod:
