Default Dash Problem

Recently bought 2010 ZO6, showing 2000 FRC to potential buyer today and when I started car the dash lights nor gauges worked. Anyone have this problem before? Need to get repaired but would like to have some idea about the cause of problem.

Open BOTH doors and find the rubber accordion tube between the doors. Shake the hell out of the rubber tube and go back and try your IPC functions again. My guess id that one or both of the door functions didnt work either.

Let me know if it worked.

I know this is the standard way of 'fixing it' but I always get a kick out of the solution! Kind of like the TV factory smacking the side of the box to get the TV to work as it goes through Quality Control!

It's not a fix...rather, it's a quick way of isolating the problem to a door, so you can do a more in depth investigation......and a permanent fix.

Default dash problem

Bill, I just got back in town and tried your advice but did not solve my problem. There is a shop nearby that I'm going to take the car, because as I was shaking the connector between the body and door the carpet on passenger side was wet. I appreciate your help and all you do for the forum, thanks.

Well THAT explains everything!!! LOL You Body Control Module (BCM) is WET or DAMP..

If the BCM gets wet/damp it will cause the dash to go NUTS.

Check your HVAC drain tube as it is most likely clogged.

NOTE!!! YOU DO NOT necessarly need a new BCM as the service center will tell you that you do. Just disconnecte the battery, remove the BCM. Dry it with a hair dryer and reinstall it, reconnecte the battery.

FIX the case of the leak..

Fuse block there and water could have shorted some relays or fuses. Could have also affected the BCM there. There are some good posts on A/C and vent drains that may be the cause of the water.

BOTH problems involve the serial data bus. Once you eliminate the problem that causes the serial data buss from communicating, you will be back on the road!!

NOTE Make SURE that you fix the issue AND remove that carpet and DRY IT OUT or you will develope a MOLD Smell and se water vapor on the inside of your windows..
