Installed a set of hid headlights worked fine for a few months now the driver side went out... took the hid out of the driver side and put back the normal bulb still wont work. but if i switch over to bright lights they both work any thoughts on why every light works but the dim driver side headlight

Did you change the wiring for the hids to use a resistor?
The hids often times require more juice to fire on. Some have reported hid problems having to flash their brights a few times to make them work.
There is a fix using a resistor for this issue. I would also check the faq and look at bill curlee info on cleaning the wire connection near the head light on the wheel well.
You could even be experiencing a problem with the head light switch that can be repaired by bending a couple of connections. I had no head lights before i did this repair and in the process only had one head light powering on before bending contacts a bit more.
Guessing game at this point but my best guess would be to inspect wires/ground points since you have the issue with low beam and hids.

Had a similar situation occur with one side not working after a couple of weeks. The ballast and bulb proved to be fine. I changed to a relay harness powered from the battery (actually the postive post on the fuse box). So far it is working fine. The resistor (which I have) is more to avoid the light buckets from operating improperly, as not going down unless the brights are on. Good luck.
