I own a 2000 Vette. My uncle has a 2004 and says he has a bad battery. When I drove his car, the car actually stopped running when I was doing about 60. It started back up again and I told him to have it checked out. He did not and it has been in storage on a tender for a few months and now won't turn over at all. Bad Battery? In my 2000, the battery is a side mount. In a 2004 are they all top post? I see mixed reviews on replacment batteries. Suggestions?
Suggestions?...Optima Yellow Top. I've read where others use the Red Top. Any quality battery that meets the specifications for the C5 should be fine. I would also suggest a CTek battery tender if he doesn't drive the car frequently. I have the MultiUS 3300 model...no issues...
I did the unthinkable. I put an Advance Gold in my 00 two years ago no issues at all. Starts fine, runs fine, never any electrical issues. With the warranty that comes with, I just cant see the point in an optima.
I thought power came from the alternator while the car is running and especially at speed. The battery may be dying because of a bad alternator. If it stopped while driving, I would get the alternator tested.
I just picked up a duracell agm battery at Sams for $130 w/tax. It meets vet cca and most importantly a rc of 120. I guess time will tell if it is a good choice. Top and side post. If alt was not working, would it throw a code? http://www.samsclub.com/sams/duracel...LLER|Duracell® AGM Automotive Battery - Group Size 78DTAGM|Duracell® AGM Automotive Battery - Group Size 78DTAGM

Get the battery tested. it"s free. You could have a bad connection and the battery is fine.
Is it cranking strong (but just not starting)? If so, it's likely not the battery. I recommend first testing the starter (for starting problem) and alternator (for dying when driving).

I always go with the cheapest battery I can find because, usually, the cheaper battery weighs less. On tow vehicles, I go opposite. I found this out by using a fish scale.
