Re: Does anyone know how to UNLOCK a Hypertech power proggrammer. (RPOZ4Z)
If you truly want to mod your car LS1 Edit and renting Dyno time on a Dyno-Jet with F/Air readout will give you a better job than any Tuner who you ship your PCM to.If your staying basic stock go to a tuning shop we do fans for 75 shift pts 75.00.Some people only need 75.00worth of LS1 edit why spend if not neede.Dave

Do any of the editors allow you to disable the error codes tha pop up when you remove the tire pressue monitors. I am thinking of going to regular non-runflats and remove the TPS so I can have air pump and can of fix a flat in the trunk for emergencies just like the Z06.

Oops, I quoted the cost for the LT1 Edit. That's what the software alone has always been. I assumed that they would keep the LS1 Edit at the same price, but I guess not. Sorry!
Also, I don't know how it works with the LS1 computers since I haven't touched mine, but at least with the LT1 PCMs you can dig up a program that will allow you to reset the vin on the computer. But I don't know if this would affect anything adversely on an LS1 or specifically a Corvette LS1 computer. I only know the LT1 side of things since I've been on their mailing list for a few years. Even if you are not going to buy one of their products yet, the mailing list is a good source for tuning info if that is what you plan to do eventually. :yesnod:
1..The hypertech III uses a STMicroelectronics (PSD312B-70J) chip. Pin 3 on this chip is the master reset pin. I believe it would not be too difficult to reset this chip, and if you look on the Hypertech board, I believe you will find a point labeled R57 just under the corner of this chip where PIN # 3 is located for resetting it. 2. If you know someone at a GM dealership who knows how to use a Tech2 programmer, here's the trick. First, write down the VIN that's loaded onto the programmer. Have your mechanic wipe your PCM and load that VIN. Next, re-program the PCM with the Hypertech program the previous owner had loaded.(It will say program has been overwritten. This is what happens if your PCM goes bad and you had a program installed). Once loaded, plug programmer back in, hit "return to stock". Now, wipe the PCM and load your VIN number back in. Hook up the HPPIII and start your own program. Plus, you'll get whatever updates GM has added using the Tech2. I know nobody really digs the Hypertech, but I got it cheap and now I got it to work. Just to let you know. 3.Find someone or a shop with sps or tis2000 and they can handle it for you also. Does not have to be a dealer with a TECH2. ..................4 You just need to read the PCM and save, change VIN and rewrite. Put the programmer on so it goes "back to stock" then reflash the PCM with the original information you read. PCM is now back exactly how it was before you started and you have an unlocked tuner.....................5 and fore most ! Of coarse its possible there are a few methods to say the least be creative like maybe your car was stolen and you were not able to retrieve the program or it was taken to the dealership and they over write the program leaving you unable to return to stock ..HELLO HYPERTECH SUPPORT !..........YOU COULD TRY BRUTE FORCE ,BACKTRACK5, ECT,ECT EVERY ONE WANTS **** HANDED TO THEM GOOGLE IS YOUR FRIEND AND WITH GOOGLE AND SOME EFFORT ANYONE CAN BE A HACKER ....HEY HYPERTECH REVERSE ENGINEERED THE FACTORYS SORCECODE ,AND FIRMWARE FIRST SO WHO THE HELL ARE THEY TO TALK ABOUT COPY RIGHT
For a non custom tune i would use a vender here and order a mil order tune... IIRC i saw them for like $150 and have alot of great results reported from members.

GM tech II can disable TPMS, Magnetic ride control, ect.. Other brands like Snap on build a simmilar diag tool that can access the BCM as well that should be able to turn off the "Feature" in the car. there are places on the forum that tell you where to find the TPMS info (search adding Tire pressure montior) and its in the same location except you want to select the "OFF" option to turn off lol
by gm mdi will better .
i bought one gm mdi here
with download gds2 and tech2win online offical website . powerfully more than tech2 .
also able programming online with them remote help .
If anyone has heard of a way or knows how to unlock a power proggrammer could they drop me a way to do it. i see someone on ebay is selling the instructions on how to do so for 20.00 but i don't want to gamble on paying his 20 fee and it now work. i have a 99 camaro/firebird ls1 ppIII and i own a 97 c5 so this would be bennificial to me. any help would be great. thanks
chris
Possibly get something done for just $20.00....sounds like a good bet to me. (gamble?)
Hey Thrap! What do you have your Hypertech Programmed at? I have mine at 1st to 2nd +2
2nd to 3rd +5
3rd to 4th -0-
Rev limiter to 6,300 RPM
I still use the 195% thermastat
and I use normal gasoline
I also used 75% shift firmness
It sure made A big diffrence in my 98 Coupe's all around performance. It's hard to believe it is the same car. I have A Blackwing, Magnaflow with X-Pipe and An Automatic transmission with A 273 axle ratio.
In your opinion is my setting's OK? I just get on it now and then on the street, not the strip.
I had mine setup this way on my 98. Worked great. Return it to stock and I am selling mine. $159.00
Now I know that hypertech will charge you $250.00 to unlock it.
I have researched this out before when looking to buy a used one.
I am selling mine since I got a tune here. I Aikman did an awesome job with it! It went street tune/dyno tuner/ then street tune. It is a totally different car. Total cost $500.00
The Hypertech tuners work by swapping the code in the PCM with the custom tune while storing the original code in the programmer. The Hypertech tune is no longer in the unit. That is when it is locked.
Unlocking the unit and using the code that is in it is something you DO NOT WANT TO DO.
Who would want to install an unknown code from another car in their PCM? To make the unit usable again the Hypertech needs to be connected to the original PCM to swap the tunes back so the original Hypertech tune is stored in the unit again. Then it can be used in a similar PCM.
This has nothing to do with protecting Hypertech intellectual property it has to do with keeping people from screwing up their engines.
