Doug there hard to come by I run the Koni 8 way adjustables but when I set the frts.to 1 and the rears to 7 or8 they do improve off the line hook up.And if I want 150 mph twisties its 8 up front and 4 in the rear.I know Nate and lots others waiting on Hals, its a weird seller you can have 4 sets in stock in Jan then May it becomes super popular again and there all gone
Take it EZ but Fast.Dave S.
Walker, sorry to hear you've had troubles. I know you've used them a lot. I have totally have enjoyed my Cartek on the street and at the track but it just won't hold when I spray with slicks at the track. I did hate that chirp though with the McLeod. I hope I don't end up with that again. I've put 4k in labor into getting the McLeod right. I think MTI has done better with that than anyone. We'll see.
Today was the day they were going to get to look at the rear. I was in Phoenix for the day but am back home tonight. I'll see what's cooking tomorrow.
Anyone out there who could post 2-3 video's for me that I could use in this string?
My McLeod clutch is in place, getting new custom output shaft from Glen Watson.....and a whole new rear end. I haven't physically seen the rear but Jeff at MTI said I'd sheared the main bolt in the back that holds the pin and carrier in place. There was enough broken that we couldn't explain that we decided it was better to start with a new rear end rather than try to sort the old one out. Waiting on HAL shocks and we'll have her all back together soon.
If I can get a pic or better description of what broke, I'll send it in this conversation. So I have essentially a new drivetrain now front to back except for half shafts. Guess I need to keep it now for SURE! :D
I am going to drive it for a while to break in the clutch to rear end before doing a nitrous dyno but I will get to that this summer.
I'll be in Vancouver next week Sun-Thu night staying at the Metropolitan. Email me if you want to get together.
KDubb I didn't see your car but I did see SW's white C5. We're in good company. Maybe you'll see MY car before I get back!
Vettesdr, thanks for what you said. Given the hp, I either have to upgrade clutch-wise or take off the nitrous setup. Given that motor was built for nitrous, that would be a waste. The old clutch did fine on street tires...I'd just spin em. But with slicks something else had to give.
TByrne sent the front shocks today and the back set are on order coming soon. Thanks Tom.
Well, I am back in Texas. Today is my day to pick up the C5 and it is pouring down rain. No problem driving the car in the rain, this car is no virgin, but I just won't be able to DO anything with the car on the way home. :D
Tom Byrne managed to dropship the HAL rear shocks on Thursday and MTI was to put them on yesterday so I am stoked about having the entire suspension and drivetrain upgraded now. M12 through new 3.42 rear, McLeod DD clutch and HAL shocks. YESSSS! Jeff at MTI and I agreed that I should breakin my clutch and rear before doing nitrous runs on the dyno so we are going to wait on that part of the job. No problem. I am a patient man.
At the moment, I cannot afford to break the car so I'm just using it on the street until later in the summer. I want to get ALL my cars working and in their new garage before I go "out" again to the track. We'll see if I can hold to that plan! :D
Please keep us posted about the results and how things are going... I heard that there is new moon coming for you which will change your luck ;) Congrats!
I bet that new drivetrain feels tight!! :) Once you get all of your projects in good running order you will appreciate that fact that they are all fixed and drivable whenever you want to take them for a spin. Here is to you enjoying your cars without breaking anything. ;)
BTW, how do you like the M12 with the 3.42's ? I have been thinking about switching to that myself...
