Well my son's convertible '98 got hit pretty hard while parked at one of the local malls. I pulled things apart to assess the extent of the damage. It needs new front fascia, absorber, fog light housings, hood, and the front frame cross-member. http://millam.tackitt.net/Franks%20C...e%20Member.jpg
A pretty simple thing to replace IF I can find one.
Any suggestions for where to obtain this piece?
Does the factory sell replacements?
I am checking the salvage yards in Phoenix now and sent an email request to Corvette Recyclers twice.
I have found that some parts that still appear in the parts data base may have "0" stock at GM. If this is the case, a "good" dealer has a way to check other dealer stocks-what they have on their shelves NOS. Got an original '99 key fob that way (as opposed to a superceded number). FWIW.
Thanks everyone for the help on this problem.
What a pain. And now my insurance is raising my rates $800.00/yr because I actually filed a claim on my "full" coverage. Somehow I thought that *this* scenario was exactly why I was paying for "full" coverage.

Serial? That's pretty messed up considering your son had no fault there. I'd start shopping for a different carrier.
Yeppers. I am working on that.
I've *never* had a company raise my rates over a claim before. But then again I have only made 2 claims in 35+ years so I may not be aware of how things work.

Yeppers. Pretty sure. He had text'ed me from the theater during the show and immediately after.
Hit-and-runs are getting ever more frequent with the increase in illegal aliens. My wife got rear-ended at a light a few years ago. They backed up and ran the red-light to get away. She jotted down the plate but it turned up stolen. That was expensive...
