Eat a bowl of Wheaties and try again.
Actually, if you're talking about getting the rubber hose off the check-valve nipple, I just take a small screwdriver (pocket "tweaker" size) and stick it in between the hose and the metal and raise it a little. I work my way around at 2 or 3 different spots to free up the hose.

Thx --should i try by the alternator--or by the right side of the check valve? Both have rubber connections--thx

If I need to reposition or move that hose out of the way, I disconnect it at the check-valve then unbolt the retainer clamp (metal clamp with rubber inside) that's bolted to the frame, then move/bend it over out of the way.
If you need to disconnect the hose at the "splice" section by the alternator, at least having it moved up and closer to you helps gate at connection point to work on it.
