When I had this problem all I had to do is shut the car off and then restart. I did add Techron after the problem. I added it for the next couple tank fulls.
seafoam what? they sell injector cleaner, engine cleaner, I don't know which one approximates Techtron so I just buy Techtron. It would be nice to know the answer so that when it goes on sale I could get some.
Plus it might help to change things up. I run only Chevron, and my gas gauge flips to empty if i am in a steady cruse at about half tank. It's happened twice, and only in that situation. I think something with the tanks when they change over is whacked.
I thought a few slugs of techtron erased the problem from my life, but it happened for the second time last weekend. The last time it didn't reset when I started the car again, as expected. I had to fill the tank to get the sender signal back .
we have been putting Techron in her 02 for the past month due to an on again off again misreading fuel gage....
gage reads E or drops to E whenever it wants to....comes back for a bit then goes to E again....also fill the car up and it only goes to 7/8

Techron hasn't helped a bit
I need to stop to get gas, because I cleared the trip odometer clearing the Low Fuel message for the second time this morning.

Makes sense to me, I've never found any "pour it in" magic elixer to fix anything.
Have no clue why the OP would conclude that it worked in 2 days..........

legend has it that Techron fixes the sticking gas gage....not sure if its true..used it in the past and the gage started working again....Techron or coincidence? who knows with these flaky gages

Being a boater, seafoam is very popular with outboard motor owners, especially going way back before metering oil injection. Very good stuff for clearing up gunk and especially breaking up carbon buildup in the combustion chamber.

Yeah, hard to tell but Ive only had my gauge go to E once a few years ago. After a search on the forum I read that Techron was the answer. I cleared all dtc's and poured in a bottle. Hasnt happened again. I gotta give Techron the win but who knows. I use Chevron gas as much as I can.
Although techron not available in Canada may be but atleast in Toronto, so got 2 bottles in buffalo, gas needle came back to life...but eventually after a week same thing gauge never worked even to date after puring 2 bottles.
Hit and miss i guess, but will take the fuel pump out and check senders unit, while trhe car sleeps for winter.
