Default throwout bearing

just took my new 01 out for a drive, I noticed a slight moan/grind when the clutch is pressed all the way down. I'm guessing its the throwout....but its been so long since I drove a c5 I can't remember what is "normal" for these, and what isn't. Any thoughts?

Anyone? The only other thing I can think of is the clutch isn't releasing fully......The car has a real stiff shifting, its clean, but lots of resistance and very notchy. Not sure if that is because it has an aftermarket shifter. I don't want to throw parts at it so some trouble shooting tips would be appreciated!

I have aftermarket shifter too , it's stiff , zero play ... Big difference if you want to compare to Honda civic or other cars . That's how it suppose to be ...

ok, so the stiff shifting seems normal for an aftermarket shifter. I just bought the car so I don't know much about it. I hear a noise (moaning sound) when I press the clutch in. As soon as I let it up, the noise goes away

K , does your clutch slips or not ? If not just drive and see if the noise keeps increasing after time .. If so try the car up in the air on the lift or jack stands have someone engaging the clutch and u look to where exactly the noise is coming from and try to get a video of the sound and put it up here on forums ... I had almost same problem ruttling noise coming from the shifter But only when the car is in neutral and when i press the clutch it goes away i thought it was the through out bearing too but my noise was coming from the rear end of the drive shaft ... It's much better now I can bearly hear it all I did I changed the tranny fluid, I tell u the old one was pretty nasty ! So I just drive now , most of the guys here I asked said that ruttling noise in vettes is normal unless its keeps getting louder and louder then u have a problem ... Sorry about the long post ... If it still worries you just post up the video here so that some of these guys here can help you better than I ... I'm still learning this car too..good luck

Could very well be a noisy throw out bearing. Unless it gets a lot worse, I would just live with it until you can afford the time and money for a complete clutch upgrade. If its just a noise issue, its not going to hurt anything.
