Have the same problem on my c5z. Did the LMC5 mod and it didn't fix my issue. Emailed them and still have not heard back from them. May have to go to GM for the SCL fix even though recall had been done prior to me owning the car. Hear you can go into HPT and just knock up the fuel cutoff mph to 200-250 and be done w/ it. Hope to find out later this wk.

Already posted, but instead of emailing, give Richard at Complianace Parts a call. Super friendly and super helpful. If the original LMC5 didn't fix your problem, they have a different model that will probably solve it. Their customer service is second to none! Many posts in the forum about how helpful he has been!!

If it were me, I would call Compliance and not wait for an email. I have no experience dealing with them personally but I have never seen any thing but raves about how excellent his customer service is.
Initially I was able to lock my steering column w/ the key out. But as of late that feature vanished on its own w/ no SCL being displayed. Weeks later is when the SCL just popped up and then the car shutting off.

I'll give those guys a call but now I got to spend even more? Eh, so be it. Just want to get back in the Z, sucks not bangin gears....

Not likely you'll need to spend anymore. Richard will walk you thru what needs to be done. You might have a loose connection. If a different model is required, from the posts I've read, Richard just swaps out with you. Let us know how it turns out.

I suspect you did NOT notice that the column no longer locked immediately after installing the LMC5.

Assuming you did install it correctly, doing so disconnects the lock motor so that the column would no longer lock under any circumstances. Some cars have timeing related issues with the base LMC5. They have another product (LMC5R I believe) that gets around the timeing related issues in most if not all cases.
Guess I didn't word it right. My column would lock prior to the current state of events. It was only recently that the column no longer locked BUT I never had an issue w/ the car, no SCL or any other warning that something was wrong w/ the car. Then 2 wks ago out of the blue the SCL popped up along w/ the fuel being shut off. It was only then that I bought the LMC5 kit. Calling them today though....

Well I tried a new column lock switch today to no avail either. Talked to Rich a few days back and we tried everything in the book. Even stumped him. So he suggested trying a lower voltage LMC5 of his so we'll see how that goes whenever it gets here. It doesn't work, just going to go tried and true...HP tuner w/ fuel cut off at 256mph kill mode. D Sucks not having the pleasure of driving her the last 3 or so wks that's for sure.

Honestly, I'm unsure if it's a LMC5R, just said a lower voltage LMC5. I'll definitely posts here the results.

Well the other unit came in yesterday and it too didn't work. SCL and pull key wait 10 sec shows on the dash. Beyond frustrated. Must be the BCM because I put a new column switch on as well with no success.

Same here. I too put both LMC5 and LMC5R and still get the pull key message. 2002 6 speed. Funny if the car sits for 2 or 3 days the car starts fine no message. It's when I use the car everyday and first thing in the morning I get the message, go to work and after 9 hrs to go home same thing. I don't get it, what happense with the BCM timing or battery that it works after you wait 10 sec? If theres another version of this unit then I would like to try it. I'll call Richard tomorrow.

I would kill to have the issue you have and just hit the reset button. But for me, I can't even pull it out of the garage w/out it shutting off. Ordering a CLB and if that doesn't work then BCM it is. Grrrrrrrr........

Yo don't get me wrong, when I get the message, I have to pull the key and wait 10 sec. If I don't I get the 2 mph OEM fuel shut off. I'm still looking for a reputable vette mechanic in southern maryland. The only place so far is the dealer and I'm not going there unless they're gonna fix it for free. As for installing the CLB, If I want to install that mod, do I have to undo the LMC5R and put it back to OEM configuration?

That would seem like an easy task since you live in Mechanicsville. <g>

Sorry, someone had to say it.

First you should check your battery voltage as was suggested. If the battery is bad then you are wasting you time with other solutions. I had the CLB on for 6 years when it hit me. Check the battery and the voltage was 12.4V. Put a new battery in, cleared the codes and I was good to go.

I have EFILive (don't know if HPTuners has this feature) so I was able to turn the column lock PID to export and that bypasses all electric to the column lock. I don't have TPM either so I automatically clear those two codes after I start the car.

The three times in 8 years that I have experienced the column lock problem were all battery related. Dead or getting ready to die. I have a CLB but never installed it

I got a new battery. Autozone. Is there a battery that is preferred? I've read in prior post that the red top battery is good but dosen't last very long for the price. Also I've read that the battery should have at a min 120 reserve amps. The one I have is only 95. I'll go buy the right one today.
