Default GM ceramic pads

Anyone use these? Looking to see if they are a good substitute for OEM pads for normal street use. Looking for a cheaper alternative to OEM pads that perform as well with no noise. I don't race or autocross.

Hi,
I have ~500 miles on a set of front & rear Durastop Ceramic Wave II pads. The reduction in dust is absolutely dramatic compared to my C5 stockers. I do have a squeal in the right rear that started just a couple of miles back. I haven't got a chance to take a look back there yet to see what’s going on. I could not perceive a change in the brake feel after the change.
Good luck,
Steve

I love them , the stopin power is a little better on very hard braking[maybe]

BUT the best part is NO DUST i have chrome z06 rims , and when it time for a wash job , almost NO dust

but they do smell  on hard braking

I put the GM ceramic on about 2000 miles ago (1 month) :D
They made a little noise before I bedded the pads.
After bedding they have been quiet.
I installed new GM drill & slotted rotors at the same time.

Before installing the rotors I had them zinc plated.
The unwiped areas have not rusted.
I wire brushed the hubs before installing the rotors, but they will continue to rust.

Got them on the 99' and 00' with aftermarket rotors and ZO6 calipers and NO PROBLEMS and the dust is minimal. Best thing we ever did for adding life and keeping the looks of our Fikse FM5's on the 99'. :D  :flag

I just put a set of Raybestos ceramic pads on my Z06. I use them during the week between track events where I use PFC 01 & 99 compounds front and rear.

They obviously don't stop as well as the race pads but they don't dust or squeal.

For street use, I am very happy with them.

They are available at Kragen stores and have a lifetime warranty.

Matt

How much are the OEM pads, and what is the expected lifetime of both?

You can check Fichtner's thread for pricing.
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=312229

I do not know what the expected lifetime is for either pad.

I was just searching this forum for some info about these Durastop ceramic pads, and came across this post. The low dusting sounds good to me, but I might go for better performance.

The prices listed in this post aren't the best. Has anyone checked out GMpartsdirect.com? There prices seem to consistently squash GM WHOLESALE prices!! (isn't that what Fichtner's charges?). Here's a list of GM part #'s from an email I've received from gmpartsdirect.com - just go to their website and enter in the part numbers for an instant price. Apparently, they get a lot of requests for Z06 parts because I didn't request those parts. The pads were $70.61, front and $50.56 for the rears.

Thanks for your interest in http://www.gmpartsdirect.com and our C5 Corvette parts. Here is a list of GM part numbers to convert your C5 coupe to have the look and performance like the NEW Z06.
