Default HID Install Qustion

Bought HID's for fog lights and low beam. Just looking to see where some of you that have done this installed the ballasts and if there is any issues that I need to be aware of before getting started.

Thanks in advance

I haven't done the fog lights but I just did the low beam headlights from Corvettemods this past Sat. It took less than an hour to do both sides and was very straight forward. I just took the plastic shroud off both headlights and had plenty of room to reach in and remove/replace the regular 9006 bulbs. I mounted the ballast's down toward the bottom by the corner lights and had plenty of slack as long as you make sure to route the wiring in the headlight "bucket' the way it was routed from the factory

Very easy install. There is a ton of room under the light buckets to mount the ballasts. A couple of zip ties and you're good to go. The easiest way (IMHO) to work in that area is to remove the plastic light shrouds, then the painted covers, then remove the pivot bolts and tilt the headlight assembly forward and down. Very quick... You could also remove the access panel in the wheel well and work from underneath.

If you didn't buy battery relay harnesses (one for lows, one for fogs) get them now before you do the install and save yourself the headache later. JW motoring sells them if your vendor does not. Your lights will work fine without them for a while but you'll eventually develop flickering or dark headlights or fog lights if you plug them into the factory wiring.

Also, if you go in from the top, check the plastic DRL housings for cracking while you're in there. Those housings are exposed to constant high heat from the DRL bulbs and will eventually crack and allow moisture in which will lead to frequently blowing DRL bulbs. If you see cracking either repair or replace the housings. The long term fix is to replace your factory bulbs with LED's.

Thanks for the information. I got my lights from corvettemods as well. I was going to order the harness corvette7 mentioned from them as well. Do I need one for the DRL's and one for the low beams?

Thanks again

DRL = Daytime Running Lights

If you're going to use relay harnesses, which I'd recommend, you need one per HID kit. If I understood your first post correctly you are installing one kit for your low beams and one for your fog lights. If that's the case, you need 2 relay harnesses.
