Default Nitto Invo Feedback

2004 Coupe MN6 ,Vararam VRB2, TI Z06 Catback

I am looking for feedback on Nitto Invo tires. Street driven only. Still running original Goodyear F1(they are now like hockey pucks). I would like a quiet ride sure footed in wet conditions. This would be a year round tire. I live in New Jersey. Is cooler weather an issue? Do I have to match the OEM speed rating? Not really concerned with tread wear rating as I do not expect more than 4,000 miles per year? I undertand this is a non-run flat tire.

I have had them for 2 years and they are much better than stock. Quiet and stable in the corners. I've been told great tire for the rain but I have a fair weather ride so no comment there.
I will purchase these again.

i've made a few road trips in downpouring rain (over 1000mi worth of very wet driving), and the Invos felt solid as a rock... & that's with almost 550hp. and for 'spirited playing' around town, they really hold their own. the only reason i wouldn't buy them again is because i want a stickier tire - in the 200TW range like the NT05.

and the Invos are much quieter than run-flats - MUCH quieter

If you haven't been to Nitto's site, check this: http://www.nittotire.com/
At the top of the screen, click on Street and use the comparisons on how their tires handle in different conditions. The Invo's are one of the best wet street tires. I have the Nitto 555's and while I very seldom drive when the sun isn't shining, I did get caught in a torrential downpour on a road trip from Detroit back to OKC and the 555's worked great. Tires stuck to the road great. With more HP, you might look into the Competition tires there as well, but for street, the Invo's are one of the best overall tires available.

I have had a set for about a year and 6 months. No complaints as they are quieter and ride better than the run flats and the handling, both wet & dry, is better than the stock tires. I have 305's on 11"X19 rear rims. My only pick with Nitto is they don't have a competition tire like the 555 R2's in the 305 X 19 size for stock or 11 inch rims.

I was in your shoes last year! So I got NT05Rs 345/30/19 with plans to do a tub and widen my 11in wheels. I sold my 325 Invos and had to mount the 345s. I thought they would rub really bad, but to my surprise, I used an 1/8 spacer and took out my inner fender and there was no rubbing at all. They have been like this since April with no issues!

Ok Blitz, got to ask. With all that HP you've got, how do the 345 NT05Rs hook up? My guess is that you still can lite em up whenever you want.....even at 60 or more mph...

My car is an A4 so it depends if I'm on concrete or asphalt! Asphalt forget it, hook up at 60-70mph weather depending. The NT05Rs do really well on concrete at 40-50mph as long as I'm not at the top end of 2nd!

I have learned to woop on people using half throttle most of the time until after 60mph or so. They get really pissed when they think they may win and then they just see my tags.............................

It is rather weird to try your best to NOT spin as 345 drag radials are about $750 a pair, and most other kids/guys are trying to light them up!

Go Figure!

tell me about it... heck, right now i'm trying to not spin a plain set of Invos.
i already just had to buy a trailer to be able to move my car from TX to SD, a new set of 285 tires for the truck, an engagement ring, and a plane ticket for halfway around the world. a set of rears for the car is the last thing on my list for a while

...but you gotta admit - it makes you giggle a little every time you do it or at least consciously stop yourself & think "coulda made a smoke show right then"

You don't have to be at the HP level zebra is at to have serious traction problems in 1st & 2nd gear with invos. My 08 LS3 is in the 490 HP range and the 305 Invos mounted on 11 X 19 rear rims are useless for half to full throttle in 1st on any road surface even on hot days. 2nd gear isn't any better when temps are below 70 and its iffy even on concrete until OA temps get above 80. There are a lot more corvettes with 19 inch rims & rim widths that will fit inside the standard body width than wide body cars. I still don't get why Nitto & other tire mfgs. don't make a 285 & a 305 width NT-05 or 555R2 for these narrower 19 inch rims which will fit standard Corvettes without modifying the car. Since there are so many more cars with the narrower rim size it seems there would be a market for a really sticky street tire to fit the narrower 19 inch rims. I have a set of widened stock 11 X 18 inch rims with Nitto 555R2's that are far superior to the Invos for traction in warm weather. Michelin cup tires are made in the 305 X 19 size but they are at least twice as expensive.

I just bought a set of Nitto Invos (275/35-18 and 305/30-19) that I put on a set of 18x9.5/19x11 C6 Z06 replica wheels. Best investment I have made for my C5. Great ride, handles as well as any tire I have had on my C5. No brainer mod.

I really like my Nitto Invos I bought last year, good handling and ride. I can break them free anytime in first, and second due to being supercharged, and yes a sticker tire would be nice, but I do not race my car and only do some spirited driving once in a while. Had to increase tire pressure due to colder temps recently, forget about properly inflated tires, colder air, and cold payment, what a ride!!!!!

I had bought the same sizes 2 years ago. I was upset because the overall diameter of your front tires is bigger than your rear tires. Also the sidewall is thinner in the rear compared to the front. You should have got 325s for the rear. Thats what I did, here is a pic of 325 Invos on 19x11 C6Z wheel

Perfect fit, Invos sizes run small!

I really like the Invos, but Blitzkreig if right about them being inadequate for high HP cars. I also went with 325s on 11" rims, but I think my backspacing is different than C6 repros. They are great in rain compared to my original F1 Supercars.

Blitz, I ran out to measure my tires after reading your post. The rear 305/30 Invos are actually about one inch taller than the front 275/35 (about 26" vs 25").
I know what you mean about the 305s looking "thin". One of the reasons I went with the 275/35 up front (other than the fact that they are the C6 Z06 size) is that they wouldn't look "fat" compared to the rears.
I didn't go bigger than the 305s as it was my understanding than anything bigger than 305 (on the 19x11/+64) would rub on the inner fenderwell at full suspension travel.
I'm really happy with the look and performance, but I will definitely go with the 325 Invos for the next set if you haven't seen any rubbing with the extra width.

I picked up a very nice set of polished thin spokes last year. Front wheels are 17" x 8.5" Rear wheels are 18" x 9.5" Goodyear F1 appears to be a difference of 1.1" in diameter.

Nitto Invo-Stock OEM sizes
275/40/18- 26.65"
245/45/17-25.79" difference of .86" diameter
Yes, it does look like Nitto does run alittle smaller in diameter.

OR

Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110-little bit lower profile for looks and a touch wider.
285/35/18-25"
255/40/17-25.9" difference of .9" diameter

Opinion?

You can slide up to a 295 and get by on the 18x9.5. But that is about max size I'd say to use on the 9.5" rim. Gives you a little better width and looks but make sure to stay within recommended staggered sizing. You could use a 255 on front as well. Gives you a few more options.
