Help 98c5 auto has reverse only ????

Help 98c5 auto has reverse only ????

Good anyone tell me if there is anything i can do to check this out . Its 98 c5 auto 100k . Backed in to a parking spot and when i came out it wouldnt go in any gear but reverse and park/i think park worked. But no forward gears. , anyone with info please.

You may need to check the transmission linkage. It will be in the rear on the drivers side of the transmission.

Could be a lot of things but more than likely, the shifter cable has probably let go. And unfortunately, it's probably going to require a tow to either your mechanic or your garage, where you'll have to get under the car to determine the exact cause. Either way, it's a PITA..... good luck and let us know how it turns out. There have been some cheap and innovative fixes for this similar problem. It's probably not the transmission (hopefully).

I had the same issues as you last year. Reverse and Park were fine but no forward gears, required a transmission rebuild. Hopefully not the same for you.

Thanks i had it towed on lift now cable is good . Off the ground you can put it in drive and it will turn back tires,barely like its really slipping. So i guess the rebuild is whats gonna have to be done. Thanks alot
