I was told 18/18 or 19/19 looks meaner instead of a 17/18 or 18/19 ratio. Then lower it

If you don't go with stock sizes, be sure and keep the necessary stagger.

Proper stagger is important (about 1" bigger in the rear) to keep in mind. Try this site. You can play with tires different sizes to see what fits. I used this site when I went up to 18/19 and it was very helpful.

I don't know if you have the stock '99 FRC size wheels (17" x 8.5" front and 18" x 9.5" rear).

If you do, then you may be limited to how big a tire you can fit on.

I put 255/45/17 (26.1" dia) front and 285/40/18 (27.0" dia) rear tires on my FRC and they work well. These sizes are a little bigger than stock, but retain the stagger. They will also keep the speedometer fairly close (at 60.7 mph it will read 60 mph). This size will also fit on the Z06 (1" wider) size wheels.

Good luck with your choices.

those 255 & 285s will fill your wheel wells a little better than stock if you don't want to lower the car. and they're only marginally wider, so the wheel size shouldn't be an issue (assuming they're stock sizes).

Andy, do you know the aftermarket wheel widths? Your tire sizes are the stock C5 sizes (I have the same) and stock rims are 17x8.5 front and 18x9.5 rear. If your aftermarket rims are wider, you can put bigger tires on them. If they are stock widths, a 295 is about as wide as you can get on the 18x9.5 wheel. If they are wider than stock, then you can go wider on the tire sizes as well. As stated earlier, the key is to keep the stagger (tire diameter of the front and rear tires) the same or as close to stock as you can. Hope that helps.

Not necessarily true. I have a 18/18 wheel combo with my tires less then 1/2 in height difference. No issues whatsoever.

OP, I used to have 295's in the rear when I had stock sized wheels. They looked good on there.

"Not necessarily true"? The rear tire diameter needs to be larger than the front tire diameter.

Not by 1in. as you stated. My fronts are 25in tall while my rears are 25.5in. As I said, no issues.

Btw it should be obvious no one would ever mount a taller tire in the front. Lol

On a stock size non-z06 wheel package you could run something like a 255/40/17 in front and a 285/35/18 out back. Little lower profile for looks and a touch wider. A few different companys make tires in this size.
