Strange noise....
My Coupe has started to make an odd noise over the last few weeks. Background on the car... 2000 6M Coupe, 124K, daily driven about 12.5 per day. It started as a squeaking type of noise. It has been around 60K since I changed both belts, at the same time I change the tensioners and idlers. I was thinking that one of the tensioners/idlers was starting to go. Last week it made a louder, almost metal scraping noise a few times then back to normal. Yesterday it made that sound again as I was pulling up to a light. I pushed in the clutch and the noise stopped. Let out the clutch and it was quieter. Made the noise once or twice for a couple seconds on the way home. Clutch operates fine, zero slipping, but it is due for a fluid purge. (I use the Ranger method every other oil change). Got the feeling that it may be the throw out bearing going. Thoughts, ideas?
