Default Yet another ABS/TCS C1214 question

The past several months I've been getting the Sevice Traction System/ABS/Active Handling message on my 2003 C5. It pops up very randomly. Sometimes it will dissapear after a few hours (stopping and restarting the car) and sometimes after the car sits overnight.

I had owned the car for several months with no issue. The first occurrence was when I made a left turn somewhat aggressively (sped up to beat a light) and then had to apply the brakes aggressively as well. ABS and TCS lights came on and the service messages appeared.

I have checked the codes (per info I got on this site) and the only TCS code I get is C1214H C.

I have used the search and there are a number of threads on the subject. However, based on the problem being intermittent and only getting the C1214H C code, are there any items that I can eliminate looking at? Or does this point me in a certain direction? Based on my first experience would anyone suspect a sensor issue?

I have checked the ABS fuses and they are fine. The car spent its first 2 years in Oregon and since then Arizona so not so sure it would be a ground wire issue especially since the car was fine for the first several months of ownership (Although I will check anyway).

Any help/guidance would be appreciated.

The EBCM will eventuallyl go out! Just remove the EBCM and send it to ABSfixer.com. VERY EASY fix for 150.00. You will need to remove the air intake duct going to the throttle body and then use a #15 torx screwdriver to remove the 6 screws on the EBCM. And you will disconnect 2 wiring harnesses. I have done it, and if I can do it, YOU can do it too!

What causes that code is typically a little relay coming loose from the EBCM breadboard. The code will come up more and more frequently until it doesn't go away. And it'll often show up if you have a low voltage condition as the resistance of the compromised solder joint increases. You can pull it out and pay someone $150 to reflow the solder, or you can do it yourself. It's not a hard job if you're familiar at all with basic hand tools and a soldering iron.

What about on a 97'? Where is it located and is the first year model repairable as well? Mine does it too and when it does, my steering is effected. It's like my power steering is at half power.

Probably your steering wheel position sensor-effects the Magnasteer system.

Thanks for the replys. This issue does seem to be getting progressively worse. It is happening more often and taking longer for it to clear itself up. So maybe this is pointing towards the EBCM going bad.
