Hi everybody!
I have C5 convertible 99 with 132k miles. My transmission is slipping. I can't go faster than the first gear is allowed. The estimated fixed costs are aprx 3k . Service charged 1300$ for only finding out the problem (without prices on parts, labour and MA taxes).
I'm looking for advice: should I sell this car now (I have a buyer who is ready to buy it for 7500$) or I should fix my transmission first???
Are you saying that some one charged you $1300 just to tell you what was wrong? You didn't say if this was a 6 speed or an A4. Are we talking slipping clutch or auto that is stuck in 1st gear? Need more info.
I have automatic transmission and yes, the transmission service asks 1300$ for just only telling whats wrong with it. Actually I can't move faster than 25 miles per hour. It doesn't change the gears from the first and further. Only torque is going hight till 5000-6000
I would not pay $1300 for a diagnostic test to even a brain surgeon. You need to find some one in your area that is a corvette specialist. Stay away from transmission shops and especially the dealership. You will probably need a trans rebuild. Call Rodney at RPM Transmissions and he will steer you in the right direction. He probably knows some one in your area that can R&R your setup. Good luck! Rod

THanks a lot!
I'm from Massachusetts and I will try to find somebody. Do you know how much it should be cost? and should I finally use it or try to sell?
Man, that is your call on selling. I had an RPM level 5 put in at A&A for about $3000 for everything, parts and labor. If you not making big horsepower, you don't need that tough of a trans. Call RPM and discuss it with them. They are straight shooters. Rod
