Default front turn signal lights

Hope someone can help out. I have been replacing the front turn signal bulbs way too often. One always does not work and when I pull the bulb off they are black. I am put both clear and amber lights and they seem to keep on getting "burned" up.

What do you all suggest? Where do I start the troubleshooting process?

Look at the housing to see if it's melted above the bulb. If so, water is probably getting in and causing the bulb to blow. You'll have to seal the hole, or replace the housing. It's fairly common.

Default My 98 still has the original bulbs

Look for water infiltration. Mine are going strong after 14 years.

all above have hit it on the head. The bulbs get hot and crack the plastic housing which allows water in which burns out the bulbs. So first either replace the housings or seal the hole/crack and then use LED bulbs which run cooler preventing the heat which cracked the housing in the first place.

ok, sorry for the ignorance, but how do you seal the hole and/or how do I go about replacing the housing? Part #?

The plastic area where you put the bulb in is all black, guess from the heat.

What I suggest is pulling it, sealing the hole (or replace), replace your DRLS with leds (we offer several), and install a hyperflash harness. It will never happen again. The leds don't get near as hot as stock bulbs.

Go to Google, type in "replacing c5 turn signal housing" and there will be dozens of links, most of them from this forum with instructions, some with pictures.

Default C5 front turn signal bulb

I was able to access the turn signal bulb by removing the headlight shroud. Unfortunately the bulb shattered and there is blood all over the place. What is the number of the replacement bulb?
