Trunion Lateral Movement
I just pressed in the trunions. All rotate smoothly but there is more lateral movement than I like. I should have measured the stockers before disassembling.
All bearings are installed flush and in the correct direction. The lateral end play ranges from .02" up to .1" with the majority in the .055" - .085" range.
Anyone know what the ideal end play should be?
I can set the bearings below the surface to remove some slop but I may end up with the trunion not centered.

Wait a min. I'm off a decimal place on my dial indicator. Its 0.0001" resolution. So my clearance ranges from .002 - .010".
Ok, I feel a little better about that.
But I guess the questions remains, what should it be?
Also I read a thread about the bearings walking out and the recommendation was to use penetrating loctite. Good / bad or don't worry about it and just put them in!
