The no-start/won't start thread - your fix

Turn key to start and zero. Everything else worked.
Issue was Solenoid
I suspected a hung-up bad contact solenoid from reading Tech. I jacked the car up in the garage and I hit it with a piece of wood while the wife turned the key to start. Started right up. I brushed it off to the car sitting idle over the years. When it happened in a store parking lot a second time I had to round up someone to turn the key while I crawled under as far as I could and hit the solenoid again and once more it started right away. No fun doing this to a Vette in public although I knew the location where to hit it.
Wasn't going to have that happen a third time and got a brand new starter/solenoid. Labor was $120 putting it on. Was not till months later I found a source (per CF) for a brand new solenoid in TX: Houston Warehouse (Lou) 1-800-392-3332. Cost an unbelievable $11.75 + 9.95 shipping for $21.70 total. Made in China (like yours probably). 4mm deep socket takes off the old solenoid from starter. That's lots cheaper than a complete new starter/solenoid although CarQuest was a savior at the time. U might explore the possibility of changing out the solenoid at the starter while on the car. It's a slip on fit onto a C clamp from the starter. I don't recall the access except that I had LG long tube headers in the way.
Tip: before you buy any starter you may want to explore what the experts have to say about them and Solenoids. One is Bill Curlee. 8Vette7 is another on to listen to et al.
Just hit the SEARCH button, click Advance Search, enter starter solenoid, by Bill Curlee, in C5 Tech.

Your suggestion would certainly benefit members who will experience these issues. Why not U follow-up and start such a thread, although you may be re-inventing the wheel.

Disclaimer, or caution to others if U will - Just because my resolve was the solenoid, that does not mean a person reading this thread should rush out and throw money & parts into their car without proper diagnostic. AND DO SECURE YOUR CAR PROPERLY BEFORE YOU GET UNDER IT.

Symptom: car would randomly shut off; certain electrical loads lost power simultaneously. Intermittent issue.
Cause: IPEC Fuse #47 was loose. A previous owner had installed a fuse tap for some unknown reason. It caused the fuse "socket" to lose tension; this caused intermittent disruptions of power through the circuit.
Solution: I took two fuse taps, cut off the excess and put them over the blades of a new fuse and installed. Perhaps not the best way to fix it but I had been plagued by this problem for over a year and wasn't about to take the chance on having everything shut off doing 70mph on the highway (again).

I taped up a 20"long piece of rebar with electrical tape, snaked the bar down between the header primarys and gave her a BUMP.
Heres the TRUTH TABLE for starting issues. The Theft deterrent relay is the heart of the circuit. You have a CONTROL SIDE of the relay and a high current (60 amp) 12 VDC side of the relay that powered the solenoid. When all the safety and securits are good, the BCM grounds the yellow/black wire and the relay can operate when you crank the engine bu turning the ignition switch to START.
