Anyone ever had an issue with the power windows? I never had a problem until today...put the passenger window down...went to raise it up...got a grinding / scratching sound and only went part way up...now after multiple attempts she will only barely move up a couple of inches...dead in the water until I get it fixed...no idea how to start.
Suggestions? Is it irony this is the window the dealer "adjusted" to create a better seal when I first got the car by adjusting the angle of the glass to riase slightly higher in the rear than it had prior?
Gotta be able to put the windows up to secure the DD Mods juke box...
yep. You've got a bad window regulator. Good news is it's easy to fix. Marc @ VetteNuts usually has some used ones around. It's an easy install.
I had the same issue a while back and all is well now.
Shoot, I may be in need of one of them soon enough!
In the event your window fails to lift for whatever reason and does NOT make a sound, try opening the door all the way while holding the UP button. For some strange reason, this has happened to me on a few occasions with my driver side window in my 2000 FRC. I simply open the door all the way and it works. I think it has something to do with the wires in the door jam area. Go figure. Oh well. After 12 years, if that's the best complaint I have, I'm doing all right.
How much do these Warren-G Window Regulators go for? Any way to avoid a full on drop dead regulator, such as oil, grease, or preventive maintenance?
If it is making a noise, you probably have worn or frayed drive cables, and it is not just the motor... The ones I have had quit working was because the motor would just stick, but no unusual noise...
