Default Making a 15 rim work on c5

Do they have a write up or anyone has done it? Any info fellas thanks. Or a web site?
I seen how to do front what about rear and I have flared fenders on back for Moore clearance.
Just quick ? How many inches wide is a 345 35 19 tire cause if that can clear I would like to stuff widest slick I can under neath

The problem with smaller wheels (15") is not the width of the tire size--but is the clearance between the inner wheel and the brake rotor---
I use some older C4 wheels ( 16x 9.5) on the rear for the same drag application--It more than doubles the tire sidewall width -- where a stock 18" or 19" wheel/tire combo has a very thin sidewall---These cars are set up more for road racing and not drag racing in stock trim---The large tire sidewall with my 16's will produce a "wrinkle" affect at launch and really hook up---
Now , even the 16's did not fit my car !! I had to have both wheels machined to remove apprx .100 from the center wheel area where it was hitting the brake rotor
Tough to find a machine shop that has a lathe that can chuck up such a large item
15's I'm sure would not clear at all and if you even machined them you would have to remove too much material making them weak and unsafe---
If interested I would sell my already machined 16" wheels---let me know--

15's won't clear the upper ball joint. Period.
To use them you need special spindle mounts. I believe Phadt makes them.

16" typically run into the upper ball joint. The area where on a normal car there would be a zirk fitting. Most folks just pound that part flat with a whammer.

There are a lot of folks running 1.30 60ft times with the 275/40/17 Hoosier Drag radials. On an excellent track prep of course.

BTW...you will get more responses to racing related questions in the performance section. Drag racers be there.

Thks Ron I forgot about the upper ball joints---YES I had to take the grinder to them and remove some material to get the 16's to fit---

Chances are, the tire's sidewall are to flexible and could be a dangerous driving situation. The suspension is designed for a certain stiffness with the low profile tires. If you use a smaller wheel with a larger sidewall profile, you could roll over the sidewall and a sharp turn. I know from personal experience. Don't do it.

Tanks for info fellas. I got the 16 to work just fine but my reason for asking bout 15 I wanted to get more tire on the ground and a lil taller, but I'm going to just down size my gears pretty soon and stay on the 28 16 10.0 Hoosier slick.

Our 15" spindle kit will be available with a complete brake kit included very soon if anyone is interested. They are in production now, we have several cars cutting 1.2 60' times with this set up.

We also stock Weld rims for this set up, and are making lower control arms for bead lock tires, although thats not necessary for most.
