Just had two new Run Flats installed.
I know not many people like the run flats, but I had to buy some for an up coming trip to Bloominton gold. The rears are almost new so I wanted them to match. Went to Discount tire and got 2 fronts installed for $583 including tax. I called in the morning to let them know I'd be there at 2:00pm. When I got there the parking lot was full. I figured I was in for a wait :( , but when I told him I was the guy with the vette he said I'd be the next car pulled in. :yesnod: .
I sat down next to someone, and before I could get in a conversation they called my name. :p: I was almost embarrassed. It seemed like people had been sitting there for a while. They let me drive the car in and watch. They have those lifts you drive over that have long pads between front and rear wheels.
They looked safe enough, to avoid any jacking damage :cheers . They used a hunter balancer, and the wheels were tightened with a tork wrench.
I was completely satisfied with their work other than them over filling the tires.
I got an alarm as soon as I pulled out saying my left front tire was over filled. I check it and it was at 47psi. the rt was at 42. I let them down to 33. The car drives a lot smoother with the new front tires, but I think once I run them down I'll try some non run flats. Thanks Discount Tire :seeya

Sounds like you got a pretty good deal and good service to boot. Its hard to find someone who takes the time and has the right equipment to mount the run-flats.
I too will be heading to Bloomington Gold this Friday. Hope the show is good in its new location.

Check out my run-flat installation pics in the Tech section. These were done at the Discount Tire in Novi..another great location for Corvette owners. Mention my name and John, the manager, will give you a good deal on wheels, tires, installs.
Re: Just had two new Run Flats installed. ($$$frumnuttin')
FYI. If you ever have a flat on any vehicle, just take it to any DISCOUNT TIRE location and they will fix it for FREE. They WON'T plug it, they actually remove the tire from the rim and patch it from the inside. Also the tire dosen't have to be a tire purchased from DISCOUNT TIRE. I wouldn't go anywhere else for tires. they are great. They have probably fixed a dozen tires for me over the years.

Discount does rock. I had a slow leak in my rt front for a week or so (when I gut my y2k wheels put on the car at the goodyear store they left out the rubber washer on the sensor) So I went to discount and they fixed my leak for free!!! When I get new tires they will be bought from Discount...
Is Discount Tire a retail chain store? Do they have them in California? I only found one in the San Francisco Eastbay and it looks like some tire store that was just named Discount Tire rather than a chain.

You must not have gone to an America's Tire/Discount Tire shop, the national chain of shops. It sounds like you went to some independent shop not affiliated with America's Tire Co.:cry America's Tire shops fix flats free. Their charge for mounting and balancing is only around $11.50 per tire and that is on the newest machines which places the stick on weights behind a pair of spokes so the weights do not show. :yesnod:

Must I show you a receipt? I went to a Discount Tire, national chain that you speak of. They even have a special charge in their computer for fixed a Corvette RunFlat tire! I do have the stick on weights and the balancing was only $10. Where is it written in their policy that they fix Corvette Runflats for free??? Cause they told me I get charged since it is a Runflat. If they are wrong then I will go get my money back but I can't just walk in there and say others in other states get their fixed for free and I want mine done free too! I need some proof!!!!! :mad :mad
