On my 97 a4 im thinkin of adding the torque converter. From what I can tell I like West coasts price at $695..sound ok??...also how much should I expect to have it installed???? Thanks for the help!
The Pro Torque 2400 or 2800 is a great choice.. :yesnod: You can also get them direct from the manufacturer at www.protorque.com. Speak to Joe Jr. ..He is excellent for referring the right converter for you needs. Install should be $500-600 and you might want to consider a Transgo shift kit and a set of 3.42 gears as well since the gears have to come down at at the same time...you will save alot of money doing them at a the same time..
ok now dont kill me for being mod stupid here but...If I never get the gears and just get the converter, is this a good thing or is it one of those things where theres a huge dropoff if you dont have both?????....your expertise is appreciated, thanks! :chevy
It all depends on what your looking for as far as performance and if you plan on racing the car. For the street a 2400 or 2800 is a good choice, but for racing you may want to go bigger. I know someone who installs them on the side for a lot cheaper and his work is awesome. He's in NJ...
I had a Pro-torque 2400 for about 2 years and loved it. I got a lot of low end power which is good for street light to street light, but was a little lacking at the top end. I do drag race so this mattered to me. If I didn't race then it would not have mattered and I would have stayed with the 2400. I went to a bigger Pro-Torque and now I have better power up top, but less power down below where you would want it. To give you an idea on the power of it you can look at my sig below. I did the 12.65, but the car was out of tune at the time. It would have been good for at least a 12.5. I do have some other bolt-ons as you see, but they are pretty minor. Good luck with you decision. I still have my 2400 at home and will plan to sell it as soon as I am confident with my new converter. If you are interested in a used one(3500 miles on it) let me know.
Yea I would possibly be interested in that used converter of yours if and when you decide to sell it.....Yea as I said not planning on going to the track and still want drivability day to day but love that off the line power and mid range stuff.....let me know! :chevy
Not sure I can get to a phone today..Drop me an email at my addy..X1ITAL1X@AOL.COM....Also, excuse my ignorance but how do i find out what type axle i have??? I have a bunch of bolt on mods on the car so this would be the first serious addition to it....I am interested, what type of price would I be lookin at here???
I paid $375 for the install of my 3500 rpm Vigilante (at Fastech in Garland). Love the performance enhancement it gave my 'Vette. I did have other quotes much higher ($>600!).
