I have never used the stuff, but, because it was on sale for $6.99 down from $12.99 for a four pack of Dale Ernhart Jr. Octane Boost, I bought some. It sure does feel like there is a little something extra but I am afraid it might be a placebo, similar to changing the oil, washing the car, or making the exaust louder. Has anyone ever heard of dyno results with octane boosters? What do you guys use that go to the strip?
Thanks for the input, I am sure a few will have an opinion.
Re: HP Gain from Octane Boost Fuel Additive? (03LingenfelterC5)
I have heard of more negative stories about octane boosters than anything else. Including fouling the plugs etc.
I had a problem with the 91 octane stuff in Cal. Ended up finding a Union 76 station with 100 octane unleaded. Mixed it to 95 octane by blending with 91 octane. The car came to life. Like it never ran before..Seat of the pants feels like I got about 30-40 hp back. Did not actually find new hp, just eliminated the spark retard effect that occurs when knocking happens

Octane does not increase horsepower. Octane is rating of a fuels ability to not ignite prematurely under heat and pressure.
If you are experiencing engine knock that can be attributed to the fuel, or are running a high comrpession motor, then a higher octane fuel should be used. If you have a power increase, its simply because you are maximizing the ability of the motor. Not because the fuel is "more powerful".
