I just got a bad whining noise some gears are louder than others. Only under load. When I push the clutch in sound goes away. And when I left off the throttle the sound weakens. It's sounds like a gear whine. I was thinking it was the torque tube or trans. But after doin research sounds like the rear end is in trouble. Anybody know? I could take it for a ride and shoot a video and send it to you. And opinions will help thanks!
M 99 6 speed makes the same noise, when I push in the clutch the noise stops,I leave it in gear when I push in clutch, this tells me that the whine is not from the tranny or gears or the torque tube since the gears are still turning when coasting in gear.
Please let me know what you find out.
You changed your trans and rear end fluid every 3k? Did you use the friction modifyer in the diff? You never need to change the fluids that often unless those were extremely hard constant track miles, and still that is way too often.
Change my engine oils every 3k back fluids 5k I run the car hard, and yes the friction modifier is in the diff. It's the pinion gear in the diff musta broke a bearing and put the shaft out of a lineament creating the gear whine.
