Default RPM plug wires

Well after we dynoed my 98 vette the other day we noticed the graph wasnt as smooth as we would like it to be. The dyno guy suggested to swap the wires and plugs to ones other then MSD's. Keep in mind my car made 322rwhp and 331 rwtq in a 98 vette with a LS6 intake, Vararam CAI, and ZO6 mufflers.

I ordered these RPM wires from WS6 store..http://www.ws6project.com/user_stor/...rk-plug-wires/

I just finished installing them and I must say they make the car run a lot smoother with better Throttle response. They ohm'd out at 32ohms and my MSD's were 26ohm's. The MSD's have been on since March and have about 4000 miles on them.

A lot of people complain that the fitment of the RPM wires are crappy. I didnt really have any issues but they are not as manuverable as the MSD's were. They snap nice and snug on the Plugs but on the coil they dont have that snapping feeling like the MSD's and stock had. I think its because of the size of the wire in side the boot. They plug up fine and are on there as it does take some effort to get them off the coil packs.

Overall I am thrilled with them. The car feels better then ever. For 50.00 you cant go wrong.

Well......... Unless something was wrong with the insulation around the plug boots or the coil boots and you were loosing spark to ground before the plug was able to use it... Changing spark plug wires had little or no effect on how the engine runs.

I know people who run the GM Performance Red wires who make 600+ RWHP. Those wires have a serviceable resistance of 275-750 OHMS.

Plug wire "RESISTANCE" has little or NO effect on LS engine performance. As long as the spiral conductor in the wire isn't OPEN and the boots and wire jacket doesn't let the energy OUT,, any wire will do. Hell, my MAGNACORES,, which have 2200 ohms worked excellent for 11 years before I damaged one. Switched to the GM Performance Red wires. Cant beat them for the price/fit and quality.. I'm running mods to support 450 RWHP.

There can be corrosion issues in the boots that cause fitment issues and leakage Thats what happen to my MAGNACORE wire. The metal conductor in the boot eroded and instead of making a solid contact, it acted like a plug gap. Thus burning up the connector. The wire measured good resistance wise but developed a slight miss.

Not a fan of the MSD wires---It's the coil boots that are too thick and they don't "snap onto" the coil and are prone to popping off---The tight fit allows air to get trapped and compressed in the coil boot--and the compressed air makes them pop off---
Also low OHM wires are great on paper however not always the best selection-As Bill mentioned a lot to do about nothing---From my circle track racing background 95% of all racers use the Moroso Blue Spiral core wires--On paper the OHM's aren't very low--but the failures are few --and melting from headers and arcing is totally eliminated ---
