Try yanking on the brake handle repeatedly to force the automatic adjuster to work.
If this does not work there is a procedure where the wheel comes off and somehow the adjustment is made at the brake itself. Someone will pipe in with this info.
The yanking thing worked for me this weekend. I was at cartek this Saturday doing baer brakes and mentioned this to rich the tech. I figured if he is pulling the wheels off anyway, I might as well ask him to adjust my brakes at this time. We'll, he looks at me, looks at the emergency brake lever and starts yanking away. All fixed! Boy did I feel silly! It was that easy. Make sure the push button is not held while pulling up. You should hear the clicking sound. By the way, the brakes look and feel incredable.
My e brake was getting loose too. I corrected the problem by yanking it up when backing up while holding the button in. Tightened right up after 3-4 times. Now I've gotten into the habit of using the e brake to stop when I back out of the driveway every morning and its stays in adjustment.
Yep, as they said, just yank up on the brake while backing. It doesn't matter if you push the button or not--the button just operates the latch in the brake handle itself. The actual adjuster mechanism is in the brake shoe assembly in the rear rotor hat.
Anyone who has worked on drum brakes knows how these adjusters work. The parking brake is almost exactly like an older drum brake.
I keep mine working by cycling it four or five times while backing up once a month. It works perfectly so far.
