Default Will a stock fuel pump handle this?

Well guys here in PA with it being snow and ice I decided to make the Vette a ripper.... anyway the car currently has a TSP MS4 cam, 160 thermo, obx long tubes, slp loud mouth, 60lb injectors..... I bought the car like this and right away I know the injectors are way to big... so I got on the phone with Texas Speed and they were very helpful in stearing me in the right direction.

Anyway so I bought Fast 90 intake, GM Performance 90mm throttle body, FAST 36lb injectors, PRC 227cc heads with 62cc chambers, Lunati Street and strip lifters, ARP head studs, Comp trunion kit, 100hp shot of nitrous, vetran cold air intake, and im taking the car to get dyno tuned.

My question with this setup is will I need a bigger fuel pump... TSP guestimated my hp to be around 470-480 without spray and was wondering what the stock pump can actually handle...

I would say yes, you're still good with the stocker, but I would still go ahead and get a Racetronix hot-wire harness for good measure. It's not expensive, it's high quality, and reliable. That way there's very little voltage drop to the pump. Pretty easy to install also. I ran my harness inside the rocker panel to the front where it connects directly to the alternator.

Alright I was looking at that plug and play harness. Some people claimed a noticeable difference here? Could that be true? Just trying to get everything at once. Don't want to get to the dump and find out I need something else.

You didn't mention (or at least I didn't see) whether it is a wet or dry shot. If it is dry, then you will need a new fuel pump. I wouldn't even hit the nitrous until you have a new fuel pump.

N/A you should be right at the edge for what the stock fuel pump could handle. I'm about the same as you (N/A) and haven't had any problems for the past 3 years.

Why such big injectors? Could make tuning a little more difficult.

I don't see what year your car is but the earlier model return style fuel rail setup and will support about 20 more HP than the later non-return style. I ran a stock pump on my return style with 460RW and Ford Red Tops which are about 36lb at our fuel rail pressures. I run Ford Green Tops on the 577RWHP 427 and they are 47-48lb at our fuel rail pressure. I installed the Racetronics pump kit when I did the stroker motor. That uses a Wallbro 255gph pump. With the stock pump, we saw fuel pressure drop considerable at around 500HP.

Just my $.02

I don't recall if wet systems use their own fuel pump or not. In your case, the wet system would have to run its own fuel pump or you will have to upgrade the stock piece.

I agree with WKMCD, 480-500 rwhp is about the limit for the stock pump and you should be about 50 hp above that! Sounds like a great ride.

you can run the 60's if you'd like, im eventually going E85 and have tuned for the 60's now on pump gas. My car is mostly bolt ons and you cant even tell the difference, my duty cycle never gets over 48%. I also went with a racetronix fuel pump and hot wire kit, the hot wire kit is a very nice piece and not really expensive. Good luck with your choice and remember its all in the tune.

The car is. 2001. And I as well though the 60's were to big that's why I ordered 36lb injectors. Standing behind it you can just smell fuel and it loads up. Thanks I hope she's a runner.

So what I'm getting out of this is not spraying I should be fine.

The wet shot is set on a window switch and will not be used often. I'd like to run a 100 shot but if that's going to max out my fuel pump and cause problems then maybe I should go with the racetronics 300$ 255 pump and hot wire kit

To me 300$ is worth a piece of mind. I'm already in the hole with this car so I was looking to save a little cash but you know.

Talking to tsp I know they told me on a dry set up I would need big injectors. They said on a wet shot injectors don't matter much.

The car is being tuned by a guy semi local. DGR performance in pa. When I was at his shop for a diesel shoot out he had 3 mustangs in his shop with parachutes out the back and I mean the brakes on these cars cost more than my truck. Lol.
